Great idea for Halloween and Thanksgiving!

How cool is this? Use the pumpkin as the serving bowl for this Rice and Vegetables dish. If you don’t like rice with fruits, substitute meat instead, and add different herbs. Rice can be replaced with potatoes too.

Pan De Muerto

Each year on November 1st and 2nd in Mexico as well as in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, people celebrate the Day of the Dead. This is a touching and at the same time joyous holiday when people remember their dead relatives and ancestors. A special place on the table is Pan de Muerto “Bread of the Dead”. There are many varieties but it is usually round in shape, often with the addition of anise seeds and orange zest, strips of dough on top in the form of bones, and on top a round ball symbolizing the skull.

Chiles en Nogada

Chiles en Nogada is a classic Mexican dish originating from Puebla. Stuffed poblano peppers with meat mixed with fruits and spices and topped with walnut sauce, pomegranate seeds and cilantro or parsley. The colors of the dish reflect the Mexican flag: green -fresh poblano peppers, white-creamy walnut sauce and red-pomegranate seeds.

What’s in season

It is apple season. Apples are often eaten raw, baked, or stewed, but also they can be dried, or you can make them into apple juice, cider, sauce, pies, cider vinegar, jelly, butter, caramel, candy, chips, crisp and much more!

Grill time!

Warmer weather means it’s time for backyard burgers, tender kebabs, sizzling steaks, BBQ ribs, cold refreshing drinks and gatherings of family and friends.

Chicken Piccata

Chicken Piccata are chicken breast cutlets coated in flour, fried and served with a sauce of butter, lemon juice, white wine or broth and capers. Simple ingredients, but the result are great, delicious, and tasty!

Slow cooker (crock pot)

Slow cooking allows flavors to steep and blend together. It circulates heat and liquid so food stays moist.

Whether it’s a special occasion, or just the weekend, one of these breakfast ideas will be the best part of waking up!

Love my garden

I love gardening so much, it makes my world beautiful. I have a vegetable/herb garden, flower gardens, fruit trees and berries. When I am outside I feel happy, too bad we don’t have nice weather all year but when we do, we are gardening! 😉
