Beef Burger with Mozzarella and Basil Oil

Less is sometimes more with burgers and to keep it simple this burger is topped with delicious toppings like mozzarella, tomatoes, and lettuce. The basil oil adds great flavor as well.  A great tip we learned with my husband for burgers is if you make a small indentation in the middle of each burger patty. the patties won’t shrink while cooking.
Nothing says summer like a juicy burger hot off the grill!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground meat with grated onion, salt and pepper, add the garlic and onion powder, 1 tablespoon of cold water and mix well about 3 min.
  2. Finely chop the basil and garlic, then grind in a mortar with parmesan cheese, add the olive oil and mix.
  3. Form 6 flat patties and make a little pit in the middle of each. Then grill the patties. The grated onion will help keep the meat moist and prevent the burgers becoming overdone. Towards the end put the buns on the grill and lightly toast them. Put the mozzarella on the meat and cook for about 1-2 minutes letting the cheese melt a little.
  4. Spread the basil oil on the the bun and the meat top with lettuce and tomato. Enjoy summer!
