Honey cake, medovik
What I cook for my favorite people… Another dish I never understood why people are so obsessed with, honey cake ( medovik). I tried many times before from different bakers, and I really don’t get it. Plus it’s sooooo complicated to make, at least for me, it takes forever if you are doing a perfect version of the cake; and trust me, I have made many complicated dishes in my life. But that’s what you do for your favorite people, when they ask My first and probably the last medovik, unless someone will ask for me to make it again Happy 18th birthday to Nicole!
Ps. The frosting actually came out really delicious! I made “Burnt Honey”, added Dulce de leche and heavy whipping cream.
We’ll try the cake tomorrow, after chilling in the fridge overnight to give the frosting time to melt into the cake layers and soften them.
