What’s in season. March.

It might be starting to really feel like springtime in March, but in the northern US it’s still a little chilly (we even had snow today!). The ground is still very cold and snow covered, but for those who have gardens that have already been planted the first seedlings should begin sprouting. You’ll soon start to see vegetables like artichokes, cabbage, leeks, celery, peppers, eggplant, onions, and tomatoes. All of these can be planted in April – May in the open field in a garden.

March in Minnesota isn’t the best time to start planing, but here’s what’s in season right now across most of the USA:
Artichokes, Asparagus, Avocados, Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Chicory (and endive), Chives, Fennel, Grapefruit, Greens, Horseradish, Kiwi, Leeks, Lettuce, Limes, Mushrooms, Oranges, Parsnips, Peas, Rhubarb, Spinach, Scallions, Shallots.
