Tamales

The word tamal comes from the Aztec word tamalli which means “wrapped”.  Tamales are made from corn-based dough and filled with various stuffing, wrapped in corn husk or banana leaf, then steamed.

The most common dishes eaten in Mexico on Day of the Dead are molé, Pan de Muerto or tamales.
