Räkmacka is a popular Swedish open faced shrimp sandwich. I usually order it every time when we go to IKEA, it’s a light, fresh and very tasty sandwich. You can use any type of bread but usually this sandwich uses rye bread and makes it much tastier. Either way it’s best to use a hearty bread that can hold heavy shrimp, eggs and mayonnaise stuffing.
There are many different options for the preparation and decoration of these sandwiches, for example, with the addition of mustard, butter, mayo, caviar, decorated with lettuce, lemon and cucumber, slices of tomato and a sprig of dill.
Serve as an appetizer or a light lunch. You can make small mini-sandwiches, using a baguette and serve as a “finger food version”.
