Football Pizza Pockets

It’s game time and I found a clever idea online for a perfect Super Bowl party snack. Really fun to make for game night and very easy to prepare. Use fillings to your taste, go Italian by adding pepperoni, pizza sauce and mozzarella, or try chicken with bacon. I even used sliced brats and it worked really good!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Roll out the dough on a slightly floured cooking board. Cut circles with a glass, then cut each circle into the shape of a football. Put the remains of the dough together and re-roll it again and cut out remaining football shapes. You should get 18 shapes.
  2. Place in the middle of half the circles the filling (in this case some pepperoni, prosciutto and cheese then 1 tsp sauce and basil leaf). Beat the egg with water and brush around the edges. Cover with remaining football shape in the top, press the edges together with your fingers and then with a fork. Then cut slits in the top with a sharp knife. Brush the top with remaining egg, place them on the greased pan with oil and cook in a preheated 218'C (425F) oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with tomato sauce or ranch sauce.
